I’ve been battling this stupid tumor for the last few months, Rosie is a bid who eats healthy, flies everyday, and is not fed foods high in fat. Crazy that she developed a fatty tumor! But because she was so unhealthy when I adopted her she is at a higher risk for some health issues.
I’m going to start making her fly even more, she’s not all that motivated so I have to make her fly to her cage or to a perch, she also flies outdoors in her harness(A friend will hold her about 20-30 feet away and I call her to me).
I’m now going to start restricting food. She will get less Harrison’s and more Totally Organics, very little fruit, half a cup of veggies, and I will continue to not give her grains as my vet recommended.
I’m really hoping I’ll start to see some improvement, on the parrot forum I’m active in another member has a galah with a much larger tumor who is having success in shrinking it back down(he’s lost 100 grams! going from 500 down to 400).
Thankyou so much for the kind thoughts! If she shows improvement I’ll make sure to share it here on tumblr
Rosie’s fatty tumor :(
I moved Rosie and Kenji’s cages so now they’re in opposite spots. At first they were both mad, especially Rosie. But then I put Rosie back on her java perch and she was happy :)
